³² Jesus had already told people how he would die. These things happened to make his words become true.^[a]

³³ Pilate went back inside his palace. He told Jesus to come and stand in front of him. He asked Jesus, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ ³⁴ Jesus said, ‘Is that your own idea, or have other people spoken to you about me?’
